Overview

Data represents the atomic level of information systems. It forms the basis upon which everything else depends. In a very real sense if you get the data right, the rest will follow. If you get the data wrong, the system may never recover. In order to get the majority of the data right, it is essential to have a picture of the data. As the old proverb states, a picture is worth a thousand words.

This workshop is designed to give business analysts a time-proven set of techniques, methods, and tricks to acquire, understand, document, and model business data from the conceptual perspective and from existing documentation.

Objectives
  • State the pros and cons of data modeling
  • Describe business data models
  • Morph an existing data model into a future data model
  • Create a data model from requirements
  • Draw data model (entity relationship) diagrams
  • Build a data model based on existing system documentation
  • Generate and sustain a productive workshop environment
  • Define data attribute’s characteristics (metadata)
  • Assign attributes to the appropriate entity on the diagram

Our virtual workshops are highly interactive, web-based training experiences. We absolutely avoid the death by page-turning and the passive learning approach that is highly prevalent in most web-based training.
